NeuroVisual Trainer includes several reading Exercises, such as Line Reading, Window Reading, Speed Reading, and more. NVT also comes pre-loaded with a wide selection of short stories and news articles that patients can choose from when doing these activities. Additionally, NVT's reading content also includes true/false and multiple choice comprehension questions for patients to answer upon completion of their Exercises.
NeuroVisual Trainer also allows you to easily import your own custom reading texts and comprehension questions which can be used in any of the Reading Exercises. Patients even have the option to copy/paste their own reading material into their assigned reading Exercises. Plus, NVT features generative AI that can create custom reading content at any level based on your specified title and subject!
Reading Texts Library:
You can access your clinic's entire Library of reading content by clicking the "Reading" tab from the dashboard menu on the left of your My Clinic page:
In the Reading menu, you can search for the title you want, filter by reading level (NVT uses the Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level readability scale, based on a U.S. grade school educational levels, determined by the average number of words per sentence and the average number of syllables per word. For example, Level 2 means that the text is suitable for an average second grader.
At the very bottom of the list, you'll find current news & opinion articles from "The Conversation" for fluent, adult level readers.
To run one of NVT's reading Exercises in-clinic, just select your preferred reading text, and choose which Exercise you'd like to run from the dropdown:
Configure the Exercise as desired, and click the blue LAUNCH button at the bottom right corner to start the Exercise:
Custom Reading Texts
If you find that your patients need even more variety in their NVT reading Exercises, you can add your own custom content! Just click the blue CREATE READING TEXT button at the top right corner of the Reading menu:
You've got a blank slate! To create your own Reading text, give it a Title, then type (or copy/paste) your story into the Text field.
Specify the appropriate reading level (there's quick and easy reading level calculator here).
Add comprehension questions and answers. Click on the correct answers, turning them green.
Before long, your editor will look something like this:
When you're satisfied with your Custom Reading Text, scroll down to the bottom and click the blue CREATE READING TEXT button to save it to your NVT library:
Your new story will appear in NVT's library, ready to use in any of the reading Exercises!
You can edit your Custom Reading Text at any time; just click the blue "Edit" button:
Auto-Generate Reading Texts
Use NVT's integrated generative AI to create Reading Texts tailored to your patients interests!
Start with the blue CREATE READING TEXT button in the main "Reading" menu.
Next, click the AUTO-GENERATE READING TEXT button in the lower left corner of the editor:
Specify the desired reading level and word-count, and whether it's Fiction or Non-Fiction.
Give your story a title with enough information for the AI to write a compelling narrative.
Click the blue GENERATE TEXT button:
In less than 30 seconds, you will have an original composition, complete with comprehension questions to add to your library for your patients to select for their reading Exercises!
Generative AI, being a new technology is not perfect. It's a good idea to review the text and comprehension questions, and make any necessary edits. Have fun!
